The Role
You will provide direct support to the Managing Director in handling a variety of commercial property transactions. The caseload includes:
- Sales and purchases of freehold
- Acting for landlords and tenants in the granting of leases
- Rent deposits
- Share purchase agreements
- Re-financing
- SIPP transfers
- Agricultural transactions
- Development sales
- Option and overage agreements
This is a varied and fast-paced role requiring strong legal secretarial skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and maintain legal files in line with the firm’s risk management procedures
- Produce letters, forms, and legal documents to a high standard
- Handle telephone enquiries in a professional manner
- Perform general office duties (photocopying, scanning, filing, etc.)
- Conduct property searches using appropriate online platforms
- Manage post-completion- SDLT submissions and Land Registry registrations
- Carry out searches and handle Land Registry applications
- Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering regulations
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold firm procedures at all times
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a legal secretary in a Commercial Property department
- Fast and accurate touch typing (ideally 60 WPM or more)
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive, professional, and highly organised

The role
As a property secretary, you will support a highly experienced team that deals with a broad caseload of Residential and Commercial Property matters. The caseload will include – Sales and purchases of freehold and leasehold properties, Re-mortgages, Lease extensions and Transfers of equity. Duties will be varied and will include preparing legal documents, answering and handling queries over the phone, administration of matters using our case management system.
The ideal candidate must be highly organised, have previously worked in a similar role, be a team player and an excellent communicator.
Experience, skills and attributes
- A legal secretary with experience in supporting a team of Property Lawyers
- Touch, audio and digital dictation typing (preferably 60 WPM)
- Production of letters and legal documents

As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an ambitious and dedicated Lawyer of circa 3-4 years PQE to join our busy Private Client department (full-time) or a much more experienced PC Solicitor who is interested in working 3-4 days a week to join our friendly and professional team.
Reporting to the Head of Private Client, the successful candidate will be bright, ambitious and technically competent in all areas of Private Client law.
In this role, you will advise clients on Wills, Estate Administration, Court of Protection, LPAs, Drafting Deeds of Variation, Inheritance Tax Planning, Contentious Probate, Trusts and Probate.

Maintaining orderly and up-to-date files, including electronic files and complying with the company’s policies on file management supported by the company’s case management system
Management of a residential conveyancing file from opening right through to closure, to include:
- Preparing client care paperwork
- Completing client onboarding
- Drafting Contract packs for a sale
- Receiving and answering pre-contract enquiries whilst liaising with the client and
- Title checking and raising of enquiries and searches on a purchase
- Reporting to the client on the title and search results
- Reporting on mortgage documents
- Reviewing replies to enquiries and reporting to clients
- Reporting to the Head of Department
- Meeting financial targets
- Business development to develop your own caseload and increase revenue for the firm
Experience
Ideally, the candidate will have 2-5 years PQE within Residential Conveyancing and be used to managing a varied caseload with minimal supervision or administrative support.
